so, two months later, i post again.
i remain in galway where the streets are filled with music and the rain abounds. sometimes i wonder how I, the wimpiest of all weather wimps, came to a) be born in manitoba where 70% of the year is snow covered and rather too cold for my liking and b)live in places that are known by sayings like " you can´t beat galway on a good day"...
i am only too thankful for the animal skin my parents bought me for christmas to keep me stylishly warm and dry. sorry, betsy, you get my hide in the next life.
i have had the pleasure of jamming with some amazing musicians out here:
megen, fellow canadian who also loves rebar restaurant and actually sounds like ani difranco
ruairi, australian bluegrass lover and my first love now lost (insert sigh for dramatic effect)
rose, beautiful kiwi with a talent for the blues
diego, who plays clarinet and tin whistle and was wearing sparkles, whiskers, and a skinned fox the first time i met him
cyril, who is the next stevie ray vaughan
claire, who is my emerging irish duet violin and currently rocking out to twinkle twinkle
vincent et vincent, two fellows from france that kept me up playing reggae at the spanish arch till 4:00 this morning...
these folks are a few of the people who help fill my days with music (particularly the rainy ones- ha.... ha) them, along with many others, keep me from ever getting bored here in galway.
i recently had the pleasure of having special guests lindsay and kathy (aka: sisterfriend and mom) come for a visit. we spent time shopping, eating cheese, olives, and other good food, drinking wine and irish ciders, cycling around an island, going for swims in the ocean and late walks at night. lindsay took the oppotunity not only to practise her physio skills but to tickle me mercilessly until we both couldn´t breathe for laughing. sisters are the best. thanks for coming guys- i love you.
they also brought pictures, gifts, and greeting from everyone back home, which reminded me of the amazing friends, family, and roots that i have.
i also received another visitor this weekend- my friend charlotte from paris, whom i haven´t seen since we parted ways in dunedin, new zealand, over two years ago. sooo good to be reunited with my girls!!!
well i think this post has gotten considerably long enough so i´ll leave it there and hope to make this perhaps a more regular occurrence.
biggest, greatest, most wonderful love to you all....
becki

One small correction. You were actually born in Saskatchewan....not sure if that's better or worse!
